Cedar Ridge Preserve
8:38 AM
Went for our first family hike at Cedar ridge preserve last weekend!
I stumbled across this place while googling for places to visit,
and thought it will be a great idea to spend the day outdoors since the weather pretty good!
Hubby was reluctant initially, but he will always bring me to places that I want to go lol!
So we went on our way after lunch!
The weather was fantastic! It was about 20 degrees with cooling wind.
A little like walking in an aircon room
Took us awhile before we finally found the place.
There were no signs or whatsoever to direct us in!
I had to see the maps and figure our way in…
The trails & their distance.
We didn't really know what to expect, but once we stepped in, hubby was sold!
As what hubby described, "it's like we are in hunger games"
True that!
There are more than 5 trails to hike.
And on each trails there will be narrow paths and pretty, bald trees alongside.
There are also protruding roots on the ground.
Look at the path!
Becareful of those rock pieces!
Chlovelle choose the first trail ( Ok, maybe she choose all the trails LOL),
and it was a small loop of about 0.5 miles.
And it looks like this!
Who wouldn't love this place? Plus it is (sort of) safe…
That's if you don't wander off the paths and meet with snakes.
We walked through bridges… Everyone love bridges! FI FI FO FUM
We walked up steps..
We walked through narrow, shady paths.
Chlovelle just kept going and going!
It almost seems like I was her burden.
After completing the Possumhaw trail,
we moved on to the Cattail pond trail.
I couldn't stop singing praises of this place!
Every where seems so unreal and beautiful.
I slowed down a little , so my manly husband offered to carry my backpack
Somehow, we walked to the peak (i supposed) of the trail.
Resting my legs LOL
We waited for our turn before going up a watch tower.
The wind was so strong up there, i thought I'm gonna fly away.
We just kept going forward….
I think we FINALLY reached Cat tail pond.
Our reward after a long hike.
Stopped for a quick snack and drink.
Then we went on to Fossil valley trail, which was one of the difficult trails to hike.
The path is definitely much steeper.
And shadier. It got quite creepy when the sun started to set and we didn't see any one on this trail!
Worst path is that this trail have more paths to choose from and we don't even know where were we!
Then we started to tease velle and told her we might need to camp here tonight LOL
This trail just keeps going…..
Im glad i didn't put a hole through my converse.
A picture to commemorate the completion of this trail PHEWW
YAY! we'll be back soon!
