Bahamas Cruise Day 2 - Bahamas, Nassau
7:59 PM
19 August 2014 - Day 2, Nassau
Our ship sailed over night and docked at 8am in Nassau
Nassau is the capital of Bahamas, and we were warned that there will be a lot of hard selling
people around and might be dangerous too.
But thinking we should be a little more adventurous, we decided not to book any tours from the
cruise(with an extra cost) and explore Nassau ourselves.
I kind of want to see Nassau a little bit more, have a look at how the people live etc,
and experience their hard selling (siao right?)
Nassau; the view from our ship
We woke up really early, but this little lady here just couldn't open her eyes…
Got off the ship after taking our breakfast! YAY!
Majesty of the seas
Do you know this ship was actually launch in 1992?
A bit freaky to know that it is THAT old right? HAHA me too!
But she went through refurbishment in 2007, to refreshen up her interiors,
although major outlook of the ship still looks a little, erm, vintage.
There are 2 other ships that docked at Nassau, thats why it was so packed!
I feel super welcome because the bahamians is flocking every tourist they see.
We are like a bag of gold!
Initially we wanted to travel down to Cable Beach by taxi,
but the man took so long, so i thought WHY NOT WALK?
After walking for a long time, we realized Cable beach is actually too far away and
for sure, not walkable distance LOL
So i went up to a local in a boat and asked for directions,
at first he told me he can fetch us there if we pay $20/pax (GULP, taxi only $4/pax)
After we reject and thank him sincerely, he actually told me we could take a Jitney bus
and reach cable beach at $1.25/pax
AWESOME! God bless you, kind man HAHAHA
So we walked to find the bus stop and board bus 10!
Thinking back, i really don't know how we did it seriously,
traveling in an unknown place and trusting the people there.
Maybe because hubby was there, so I'm not scared at all since he is already training hahaha
After a long long ride ( distance definitely not walkable at all),
we were told to alight here because Cable Beach is nearby.
So…. where is the beach?
Kept walking to the wrong direction with no beach in sight!
Finally we are here!!!
Cable beach is actually located behind a hotel.
We walked right into the lobby and no one stopped us ( must be looking mega touristy)
Velle was mega mega excited when we reached!
Flashing her super happy smile.
Cable beach is further from the port, thus less crowded.
It also doesn't have many bahamian hard selling their stuff.
Quite a quiet place! I like it!
Perfect weather!
Its sunny and the water is warm, so amazing!
We meet a vietnamese family at the beach and they told us the hotel staff
actually charge them close to $200 for using the beach WTH?
We left the beach after a few hours and went to explore the places closer to the ship.
We went to Fat Tuesday as one of the locals recommend this place for their famous conch salad.
It was a really long walk, and halfway through a man walk pass us and started to talk to us.
He seemed really friendly and told us he could lead the way. ( i was a little scared lol)
In the end when we reach our destination, he followed us in even we say thank bye
He told us he is very thirsty, so i quickly stuff money to him, so he can leave.
Phewww, thank God he did.
I did not try the salad, but from hubby's facial expression,
i don't think he enjoy it LOL
The other cruises left, and only our ship is docked till midnight
The Alantis, which we did not go.
Went to a flea market and everyone seem to want a piece of us omg!
Back from the sea and selling his catch of the day
Conch shells and dried-up starfish for sale!
When back to the ship before nightfall just to be safe,
came into our stateroom to see this!
10/10 for their service, because they make our beds like twice a day?
Thank you for making us smile!
